Look at that kitchen view!



A nice view from the kitchen? Usually all the best views I see from the kitchen allow a an overworked and underpaid dishwashing parent watch their children play tag in the back yard. And then there are the Hugo's that have kitchen and other window views of ferries, seagulls and the great Pacific NorthWest. Oh to dream.

Sure, the Hugos have the house they've always wanted. But it has taken a lifetime of getting here. Years ago, in Spokane, they had what they figure was one of probably only a dozen contemporary houses in town. Theirs was designed by Lars Kundig, father of acclaimed architect Tom Kundig. Chris describes it as "a big cube" of an industrial box.


"This house reflects what we learned in the box," he says. "You have to warm up your home with your own things. We were lucky to have lived in that house." Read the Rest
