Circular Kitchens in Orange County?

Knowing that many people are looking to find the smallest piece of property with an Orange County zip code that they can afford much of the space liberties that we have come to assume as housing rights are being removed. Say good bye to large kitchens and counter space. A new company CC Concepts may have just the answer for the space deprived, in Orange County and throughout the world: the circular kitchen.

Flip That House in Orange County?

As I work with many real estate investors that both buy and hold and do what insiders know as "flipping" I thought this would be interesting to share. A&E is looking for new cast members for their popular reality tv show. If you fit the bill please read on, I think Orange County would be a great place to feature star investors making good investments really fast.

Wanted: ‘Star Flippers’
If you buy and sell numerous houses each year and work with incredible, dynamic people while you’re doing it, or if you know someone who fits that description, “Flip This House” wants to hear from you.

The producers of the hit A&E series are seeking high-volume “house flippers” to star in the show’s fourth season. Each episode follows people who buy homes cheap, make alterations big and small to give the house added value, then sell at a profit.

“Flippers should have real estate in their blood,” according to Joshua Koffman of Departure Films, the producer of the show. “They can be strong personalities. We want people who flip homes regularly — say 10 or more a year — because we want to follow the same people for multiple episodes.”

While the “flipper” is the main character the show, “Flip This House” also includes other members of his or her “team,” such as project managers, Realtors/brokers and contractors, etc. This season, A&E is specifically seeking an area in the Northeast and hopes to feature “classic” homes, although it is open to following the flip of any type of residential property. It is that search for “classics,” Koffman said, which makes New Hampshire so attractive.

The producers can usually allow two to six weeks per flip, depending on the work that needs to be done.

If you think you or someone you know would be right for the series, please respond to Joshua Koffman at Joshua@departure-films.com, to receive a complete questionnaire and further instructions.

I have been working on several projects as the seasons have changed from summer to fall. At Signature Design Center we are fortunate to have great southern California weather. This helps for large projects such as the following project completed by Jamal our partner at Jaid Mosaic. The location is Laguna Niguel, CA.

Do you see the detail on the stairs and floor? Jamal is an artist. I hope the investor get's their money's worth.
Our kitchen design in this one, completed with more tile and granite work by Jamal.

Dog Days of Summer

We have survived an extremely busy summer full of heat, real estate whoas and short tempers from clients that require perfection like yesterday. However these are the very circumstances that drives and motivates me to deliver quality projects on time and on budget. At least for my clients that have a budget, believe it or not I do get clients that want a certain look where money is literally no object.

Next week I intend to post some new pictures of some of these luxury kitchens. Please remember that if you have any questions about your remodel, do not hesitate to give me a call, if I can't help you directly I have tons of industry contacts that may be of service to you.

How to Select Cabinet Styles

Orange County Cabinet Styles

Orange County in Southern California is a famous tourist destination with miles of sandy beaches, surfing, Disney’s California Adventure, shopping malls and other attractions too numerous to mention.

For people in Orange County and the rest of the country, their home is their biggest asset. Remodeling the kitchen and/or bathroom in your present or newly purchased home takes careful planning and research. It is extremely important because not only are you going to invest a lot of money into this project but it also affects the resale value of your home. Once you have decided that you are going to remodel your kitchen and/or bathroom, you want the result to look and function exactly as you had in mind. An experienced designer can help you with custom designs and up to date trends. My company, Signature Design Center, which services Orange County, Los Angeles and surrounding areas, is one of many companies that does designer cabinetry. Once you have a designer/contractor in mind, it is wise to check with the Better Business Bureau. Most reputable designers will also have credentials from the National Kitchen and Bath Association.

Kitchen and Bathroom Cabinets

There are two types of kitchen/bathroom cabinets, one that is framed and one that is unframed or frameless. Framed cabinets have each door and drawer surrounded by an outer frame. A center stile separates each door on two door cabinets and usually you can see a space between the drawers. Frameless cabinets have no stiles or outer frames. The doors cover the entire cabinet box so you have full, easy access to items in the cabinets.

Choosing your cabinet style will have a lot to do with the overall harmony of your home but easy to clean and comfortable. A designer will be able to help you made the right choices, as it can be overwhelming. Here are a few of several cabinet styles from which to choose:

1. French cabinets

2. European and Euro frame cabinets

3. Transitional cabinets

4. Art Deco

5. English cabinets

6. French country cabinets

Another consideration when planning your kitchen and/or bathroom is the type of wood and finish on the cabinets. Natural woods are wonderful and rich to look at and make outstanding cabinets. These are some of the many woods to consider when remodeling.

  • Alder and knotty alder
  • Birch/red birch/white birch
  • Pine/knotty pine
  • mahogany
  • Oak/white and white wash oak
  • Cherry
  • Walnut
  • Hickory
  • maple

The finishes on cabinets, as with furniture, can be stained, hand rubbed, lacquered, distressed, glazed and painted just to mention a few.

Cabinet refacing is another choice you can make instead of replacing. It will completely change the look of your old cabinets. They can also be adapted to fit new appliances, drawers, slides and pullouts among other changes.

By careful planning and working with a designer, you can have the truly elegant and natural kitchen and bath of your dreams. For further information contact www.domain.com for details on cabinet types.
